Heathrow strikes still on the cards for late August

Planned strikes at Heathrow on August 23 and 24 are still on the cards after two earlier strikes were called off, confirmed Unite, Britain and Ireland’s largest union.

Heathrow has assured passengers that the airport will continue to operate on these days and is committed to finding a solution with Unite to avoid further industrial action.

The strikes are expected to affect 4 000 staff members, including security guards, engineers and passenger service operatives and drivers.

Previous strikes that were planned at Heathrow on July 26 and 27 and August 5 and 6 were suspended. The latter strike was called off while the workforce voted on an improved pay offer, Unite said.
