THE Kruger National Park’s
visitor numbers have risen
by more than 100 000 in the
past year, according to the
Department of Environmental
Affairs.
The park’s popularity has
grown, with an increase
in overseas visitors and
a definite increase from
the Southern African
Development Community
region.
The Department of
Environmental Affairs
released figures showing that
a total of 1 659 793 guests
passed through Kruger’s
gates in the 2014/2015
financial year compared with
1 556 916 in 2013/2014.
Of these, 1 277 397 were
day visitors and 382 396
were overnight guests. The
increase in day visitors can
also be attributed to the
limited accommodation within
the park, resulting in guests
staying outside the park and
going in as day visitors
