LCC suspends JNB-VFA flights

FASTJET has indefinitely
suspended three of its
services – including its
Johannesburg-Victoria Falls
flights – from December 5.
Dar es Salaam-Entebbe and
Dar es Salaam-Nairobi have
also been suspended.
The airline will issue full
refunds to passengers
who have already booked
and paid for seats on the
affected flights. Those on
flights from Johannesburg to
Victoria Falls will be offered
an alternative routing
via Harare. Fastjet offers
three flights a week from
Johannesburg to Harare that
allow passengers to connect
to Victoria Falls on the same
day. In total, the airline
operates two flights between
Johannesburg and Harare
every day except Saturdays,
when there is only one flight.
The airline said the
suspension of these
services was part of its
ongoing financial turnaround
programme. This includes a
review of its fleet, frequency
of flights on specific routes
as well as the routes flown.
In a statement, fastjet said
the specific routes were
not commercially viable due
to low passenger demand
and the inefficient use of
aircraft.
To find out more about the
refund process, agents are
advised to contact fastjet’s
call centre, or its GSA,
Aviareps, directly
