Marriott rolls out Rewards across Protea portfolio

Durban and has now
been extended across the
portfolio.
Protea’s Prokard
programme will remain
in place, says Mark
Satterfield, ceo of Marriott
International, Middle East
& Africa and Marriott’s
International business
leader for Protea Hotels.
Prokard members will now
have the choice of earning
Marriott Rewards or
Prokard Rewards. However,
existing Prokard points
must be used at Protea
Hotels, he clarifies.
The new development
has a number of
advantages for Rewards
members, according to
Mark, the most significant
of which is the ability
to earn points at local
Protea properties, which
can then be redeemed
internationally. “Many
Prokard members use their
points for leisure stays,
which can now be spent
overseas.” These points
can also be used for a
range of other benefits,
such as air travel, car
rental and cruises.
