Nigeria’s national carrier, Air Peace, has secured a slot at London Heathrow International Airport in preparation for the commencement of its Heathrow flights.
The Nigerian Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, made the announcement on a post on X, previously Twitter, on June 21.
“After many months of diplomatic exchanges and shuttles, insisting on our reciprocal rights under our Bilateral Air Services Agreement, we are pleased to announce that Nigeria has finally secured the coveted Heathrow slot for one of our flag carriers, Air Peace,” said Keyamo.
This comes after ongoing negotiations between the Nigerian government and British aviation regulators regarding a slot at London Gatwick and the slot at London Heathrow.
The carrier was awarded a slot at London Gatwick in early 2024 and resumed its five-weekly Gatwick flights in March 2024, as reported by Travel News.
