Norse to enter GDSs

Norse Atlantic Airways has rethought its distribution strategy and will be selling on GDSs before the end of the year. However, the airline is adamant that the cheapest tickets will always only be available on the Norse Atlantic website.

“Once on the GDS, our inventory will be available to be sold by corporate and leisure travel agents globally, significantly increasing the population that will be able to purchase our great value tickets with Norse,” the airline CEO Bjørn Tore Larsen said in a statement on the carrier’s second-quarter performance.

The airline recently announced that it would start operating flights between London and Cape Town from October 28 this year. At the time of the announcement, the airline said the flights would not be available on the GDS or NDC as the airline was focused on direct sales, as reported by Travel News.

Norse Atlantic reported that the second quarter was a successful period. The number of flights increased by 89% and passengers increased by 99% compared with the second quarter of 2023. The airline was, however, impacted by lower fare levels across the industry, with revenue per passenger decreasing from US$425 (R7 520) in 2023 to US$380 (R6 725).
