PHAKALANE Airways has
discontinued scheduled flights
in the Northern Cape, just 18
months after the service was
launched.
In January 2014, the
Northern Cape provincial
government appointed
Phakalane Airways to run
scheduled inter-provincial
flights between Kimberley,
Upington and Springbok and
unscheduled flights to De Aar,
Calvinia, Kuruman and Sishen.
Ceo of Phakalane Airways,
Allan Roebuck, told TNW the
airline still offers flights on
the Kimberley-Upington route
but only as a non-scheduled
charter.
Allan told TNW that the
Phakalane Airways team
would now concentrate on
a flight training school they
had recently opened to “train
historically disadvantaged
children in the Northern
Cape”.
