Photocap: World food day

The City Lodge Hotel Group and Food & Trees for Africa recently visited the Mother Touch
Academy in Diepsloot for special vegetable and fruit tree planting to commemorate
World Food Day. The academy provides care and pre-schooling for 132 neighbourhood
children from under a year up to six years old, and runs its own sustainable vegetable
garden to assist in feeding the children. Via online bookings on its website, the City
Lodge Hotel Group donated R81 000 to Food & Trees for Africa, some of which was
channelled to Mother Touch for its fruit and vegetable growing activities. For World Food
Day, 10 fruit trees were planted along with herbs and vegetables such as spinach, onions,
tomatoes and green peppers. Maize will also soon be planted. Smiles all round as City
Lodge’s Peter Schoeman and Food & Trees for Africa’s Funboy Sebele celebrate World
Food Day with the children of Mother Touch Academy.
