Hotel on Durban’s Golden Mile completes refurb
THE Palace in Durban has completed a R5m refurb. The studio units were converted from self-catering
apartments to spacious hotel rooms by removing the kitchens. The penthouse now comprises three en-suite
bedrooms, all leading on to a balcony with sea views. The main bedroom is fitted with a Jacuzzi spa bath.
Western Cape property completes refurb
THE Kurland Hotel in Plettenberg Bay has completed its soft refurbishment and has again been given a
five-star grading by the TGCSA. The family-owned and -operated hotel now has new linens in all suites and
children’s lofts, and new carpets throughout. Paintwork has been completed and the gardens have been
landscaped. The executive chef has created new culinary options, including the Kurland High Tea.
Faircity Hotels strengthens conferencing footprint
KIEVITS Kroon Country Estate and Spa in Pretoria has been taken over by the Faircity Hotel Group, effective
August 1. The takeover is part of the group’s growth and expansion plans for the future, with the hope that
Kievits Kroon will strengthen Faircity’s footprint in Pretoria in terms of conferencing, events and functions.
The country estate is a high-end four-star property, and will help elevate the rest of the Faircity portfolio.
