Qantas plans major lounge refurb

Qantas has extended its global lounge improvement programme.

The multimillion-dollar programme will see the national carrier upgrade six lounges in Auckland, Brisbane (to be complete in 2019), Hobart, Sydney, Tamworth and Tokyo.

Announcing the investment, Qantas Group ceo, Alan Joyce, said the extended lounge programme would be across international, domestic and regional airports. “We know that the lounge experience is a key part of people’s journey and it’s also how we reward our most frequent flyers. As the demand for premium travel increases, we’re responding with more space in our lounges, more dining options and designs that reflect the destination.”

The announcement is in addition to lounge upgrades currently under way in Melbourne and Sydney.
