Rwanda drops PCR tests

23 May 2022
Kigali by night

Passengers no longer need to take a PCR test prior to their departure for Kigali, according to a notice recently issued by the Ministry of Health.

A rapid antigen test taken 72 hours before departure is now accepted. Travellers still have to take a second antigen test at their own expense (US$5/R80) on arrival at Kigali.

Tests are not mandatory for children under five who are accompanied by an adult.

All travellers arriving and transiting in Rwanda must complete the passenger locator form and upload their negative COVID-19 rapid antigen test certificate.

Passengers leaving Rwanda must show a negative rapid antigen test taken 72 hours before departure. A PCR test is only necessary if it is required at the final destination.
