Spokesperson for the Department of Home Affairs (DHA), Mayihlome Tshwete, has confirmed that the Department is in the advanced stages of introducing a child’s passport containing details of both parents. In an announcement in December, the DHA said the new passport would come into effect in February, however this deadline has not been met. Mayihlome says the exact date of when the passports will come into effect still needs to be confirmed.
