BEACHCOMBER Tours has unveiled major upgrades across its portfolio aimed at modern honeymooners and destination wedding couples. Amongst the most significant developments is the temporary closure of Trou aux Biches Beachcomber from May 15 to October 15, for an extensive refurbishment programme coinciding with the resort’s 55th anniversary and the appointment of new GM, Kervyn Rayeroux. The renovations will include the refurbishment of all suite categories, the redevelopment of the Oasis hub, including the bar and restaurant and the redesign of the Beachcomber boutique. The resort will also implement a reversible ‘Stabiplage’ system to address coastal erosion and support marine life while preserving the guest experience. According to the Sales and Marketing Director of Beachcomber Tours, Joanne Visagie, the project represents the return of an icon. “It will return as a refreshed luxury honeymoon ‘hero’ with a stronger contemporary appeal. Many refer to Trou aux Biches as the romantic heart of the island. The Beachfront Suites with pool categories are also a massive highlight and they too will be refurbished. It will still be the Trou aux Biches everyone loves, now beautifully refined,” said Visagie. Beachcomber is also strengthening its adults-only and couple-focused offering. Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa recently introduced ‘Shandrani for 2’, an adults-only concept featuring 69 fully renovated rooms, a dedicated beachfront area, enhanced dining options at the redesigned Le Grand Port restaurant and new Rooftop Deluxe Rooms with private decks, outdoor showers and Jacuzzis. “There is a continuous broader upgrade strategy across the portfolio, which is not cosmetic – they are designed to deepen experience-led travel, which is key for today’s honeymooners. Beachcomber is not just maintaining its romance offering – it is evolving it meaningfully,” added Visagie. Enid Maullin, Group Sales Executive at Beachcomber Tours, said that after the wedding, many couples choose to continue their honeymoon at the same resort. Or they might move to another property to enjoy a different experience within Mauritius.
