Community in an algorithmic age Why the industry’s best intel is still offline

The conversations that change everything Across Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town, Envoyage‘s annual summit brought independent agents face to face with some of the industry‘s most important conversations. Aviation expert Michi Messner delivered a genuinely eye-opening session on the hidden pressures dictating what appears on a South African agent‘s screen: fuel costs have surged by around 130% since February, and filling a single A380 requires 180,000 litres of jet fuel at roughly R20 a litre. Understanding why fares move the way they do - and explaining it confidently to a client - is what transforms an agent from a booking processor into a trusted adviser. On the technology front, Amadeus confirmed that an AI-powered chatbot is currently in development, designed to give agents instant answers to complex fare rule queries and booking conditions. The administrative burden of deciphering ticketing rules is about to get significantly lighter. None of this intelligence lands quite the same way in a newsletter or webinar. It happened because people were in the same room, asking honest questions and getting straight answers. The Envoyage Community For those who have made the move into the independent space, community is not an abstract concept. It is the practical, daily reality of how they operate. Here is some feedback from Envoyage members “I had a lot of anxiety about how much support I would get moving into the independent space. But the support team has been brilliant, and the broader community has been incredibly supportive.” - LINDELWA HLONGWA “Everyone here is my friend. If we ever need help, we have each other.” - RIONA RAGHUBIR “With Envoyage, I have a team. Even though it‘s only myself, Envoyage is my team, and everyone is just amazing.”

AI is your most powerful (junior) colleague

How to start using AI to grow your business

As of today, Artificial Intelligence is the least capable it will ever be. By this afternoon, it will be slightly more powerful. By tomorrow, more so again. That was the opening salvo from Natalia Rosa, Big Ambitions CEO and AI specialist. She told delegates that the goal is not to master AI, but to develop a working relationship with it, the same way you would with a talented but inexperienced junior colleague.
