Europcar transforms airport car pick-up

AFTER a flight the last thing your clients want is another queue – everybody’s time is valuable. Recognising this, Europcar South Africa has introduced its innovative Ready2Go Key Dispensing Units (KDUs) at OR Tambo International Airport and Cape Town International Airport, making the transition from plane to road simpler, smarter and faster than ever before. The decision to launch the KDU at South Africa’s two busiest airports reflects how people travel today. A significant proportion of car-rental customers collect their vehicles immediately after landing, making airports the ideal location for a digital-first solution that removes unnecessary delays. Instead of standing in line at a rental counter, customers can complete their journey to the open road in just a few simple steps. The Ready2Go self- check-out service allows customers to complete a once-off online registration before travelling. When booking a vehicle, they simply select the KDU option. Upon arrival at the airport, customers scan their driver’s licence at the self-service terminal, collect their vehicle keys and head straight to their car without paperwork or waiting in a queue. The result is a seamless rental experience that complements the convenience travellers have already come to expect from online flight check-ins, digital boarding passes and mobile travel apps. “The launch of our KDU is not just about introducing new technology. It is about putting our customers first by respecting their time and giving them greater choice,” says Marketing Executive, Shaughne Gell. “As we continue driving our vision of paperless, seamless travel, the KDU demonstrates our commitment to innovation by eliminating queues and creating a faster, more convenient rental experience.
