LH pilots begin two-day strike

Lufthansa pilots, represented by the Vereinigung Cockpit union, are striking on April 13 and 14 with pilots at Lufthansa CityLine and Eurowings also joining the action.

The airline said it was working to minimise disruption by having as many flights as possible operated by other Lufthansa Group carriers and partner airlines.

Passengers holding tickets from Lufthansa, Austrian, SWISS, Brussels Airlines or Air Dolomiti, issued on or before April 11 and booked on Lufthansa-operated flights (including Lufthansa CityLine) on April 13 and 14, may:

  • rebook free of charge to another Lufthansa Group flight until 21, or
  • request a refund for their ticket until April 13

Lufthansa is expected to operate around a third of its short-haul flights and roughly half of its long-haul services at the affected airlines on both days. According to Bloomberg, more than 550 of 1 322 scheduled flight movements were scrapped on April 13.
