Journey Beyond introduces new suites
South Australia-based train operator Journey Beyond has launched new premium suites on its flagship trains, Indian Pacific, The Ghan, and the Great Southern.
The new Aurora and Australis suites feature a butler service, private in-suite dining, and a curated in-room bar.
The Aurora Suite is 17sqm and the Australis Suite 25sqm. Each features a separate sitting area and bedroom, with a double sink and walk-in shower in the Australis Suite.
Guests in the suites will enjoy special excursions, like a private charter flight to the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and a private Champagne lunch.
Japan increases rail pass fee
Japan Rail will raise prices for its Japan Rail Pass, a ticket that allows unlimited travel on trains across Japan, including most Shinkansen bullet services.
Prices for the pass will increase by around 5-6 % from October 1, depending the validity period of the pass.
According to Japan Today, an adult seven-day pass will increase by JPY3 000 (R308) to JPY53 000 (R5 456) for ordinary carriages, and by JPY4 000 (R411) to JPY74 000 (R7 618) for premium carriages.
A 14-day pass will increase by JPY4 000 (R411) to JPY84 000 (R8 650) and by JPY5 000 (R515) to JPY105 000 (R10 815) for a 21-day pass.
