Kenya Airways has announced the resignation of George Kamal as Acting Group MD and CEO for personal reasons. Habil Waswani, the airline’s Company Secretary and Director of Legal Services and Regulatory Compliance, will take over as Acting Group MD and CEO.
Kamal initially served as the airline’s Chief Operating Officer for three years before taking on the role of Acting Group MD and CEO on December 16, 2025. He will formally step down from the airline on September 30.
Waswani will take over as Acting Group MD and CEO from September 15. He has been with the airline for more than five years, overseeing legal matters related to aviation and airline operations, as well as commercial and corporate law.
The Kenya Airways Board of Directors has begun the process of recruiting a permanent successor, with the appointment expected to be finalised in the near term.
