Uber has ceased operations in Nigeria and Uganda with immediate effect
The ride-hailing company told BBC that it had made the decision after a thorough review of its business. It began operating in Nigeria in 2014 and in Uganda two years later.
Over the last year, Uber has also pulled out of Ivory Coast and Tanzania. Egypt, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa are the remaining African countries in which the company operates.
Uber said its help centre would remain open until September 23 for those in Nigeria and Uganda to deal with outstanding issues.
